Job Specification

Dance teachers educate and instruct individuals and groups of all ages and abilities in different forms of dance. The majority of their time is spent teaching classes and providing constructive feedback to pupils, but other tasks may include:

• planning lessons around a syllabus
• selecting music and preparing routines
• showing people how to warm up and dance safely, in order to minimize the chances of injury
• assessing and recording the individual progress of pupils
• preparing pupils and putting them forward for examinations.

Dance school teachers run classes in the evening and on Weekends. Our dance classes operate from Church Hall and Civic Centre; teachers are required to work freelance, traveling to different venues.

Rates of pay: TBC

Dance teachers need:

• a proficient background in dance
• musical knowledge and an understanding of different dance forms
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• to enjoy working with children, young people and adults
• to feel passionate about dance and its history.
