... began dancing at the age of eight at a local dancing school which by chance, turned out to be owned by the highly successful and world famous Syd Perkin and Edna Duffield in Warren's home town of Stoke on Trent.
At the age of eleven, Warren won the British Juvenile Championship at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool. Supported by his devoted late parents, Maurice and Jean, Warren travelled around the country competing and becoming one of the country's top Juniors and at the age of 15, made his first British Junior final.
A number of different partners came and went until at the age of 19 he met his last partner and now wife, Jane, at a studio in Birmingham run by top competitive coaches, Robin Short and Rita Last who introduced them.
Still financed by his parents, Warren had a string of jobs - of note was a long stint as an airbrush artist to help with his coaching costs although he says that he owes all of his success to his parents without whom, he could never have achieved his goals.
A glittering Amateur and Professional career followed with them being in demand all over the world before finally retiring from competitions at Sun City in South Africa in 1997. |
